Student Led Stories – Taribelang Language

As part of the ‘Together in Education Program’ run by Stepping Black with Bundaberg Primary Schools, students wrote and illustrated stories as they learnt common words from the Taribelang Language.

Budding young authors with the creations

The Taribelang Language is the traditional language of the First Nations’ People of the Bundaberg area. SBICA is lucky to have a traditional owner as part of our team, Robert McLellan, to deliver this program into the local schools. Robert has also been instrumental in promoting traditional dance through the Yuwarr Dance Project as well.

We had a great crowd attend and listen to the stories read by Aunty Melinda Holden, Di Phillips and Robert McLellan.
