Community / Country & Cultural Role or Connection
I am a proud Waanyi Man from the Southern Gulf of Carpentaria
- My cultural role is to continue learning from Elders and passing their knowledge on to future generations.
- It also involves respecting Elders, caring for my Country, and honouring other Traditional Owners, their Countries, cultures, and Lore
Bio
My role at SBICA involves facilitating cultural programs throughout the wider Bundaberg community and in local schools.
After completing high school in 2021, I worked as a Ranger for three years, gaining valuable experience and strengthening my connection to culture and the environment.
I am passionate about contributing to Closing the Gap by delivering cultural programs, educating others, and raising awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories.
I value working alongside the community, Elders, and other organisations, while creating meaningful opportunities for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to participate in SBICA’s initiatives.
